Here is a calendar you can print out and hang up, of all vintage dances and classes we know of...
see how many days you can fill with dancing if you try!

Everything listed here will feature waltz and/or polka.  If you hear of any other event that features a band and enough space to dance, please let us know and we will add it here.  If you would like you can join the email list, who are the first to receive the latest news like this:

Tuesday, Feb 23 =  Tonight we will spend our intermediate hour on Polka.  Learn this happy dance (or get yourself back in shape) in time to use it at this weekend's dances.

Friday, Feb 26 =  Vintage Invasion, the party we look forward to all month.  The usual suspects are welcome to report to the usual place: Finnish Brotherhood Hall, at Chestnut & University, Berkeley.  Waltz lessons at 8pm (all levels welcome), Dance party at 9pm with DJs Sam and Persephone.  We take requests!  And we often even play them.  ;)  Bring friends, bring snacks for the potluck, bring your new dance moves to try on unsuspecting partners....  $8/$6

Saturday, Feb 27 =  Ye Olde Gaskell Ball.  It was an old tradition when I started going, and that was over ten years ago now!  Dress up in your best costumage and dance to the Brassworks Band.  Held at the Scottish Rite Temple, on Lakeside Drive in Oakland.  Doors open at 7:30 for a speedy-refresher type lesson, and the band plays 8:30-12.  $20

Tuesday, March 2 = This evening's 8pm class will be about Tempos.  How to keep up with fast songs, how to hold back to match really slow ones, and what to do when a song changes tempo.

Saturday, March 6 = Peers' Cabaret ball.  I would say this is their annual speakeasy theme, except that the musical Cabaret takes place in Germany and prohibition was in the USA.,., but it's definitely a chance to wear your flapper dress or slinky 30s number.  Or whatever you can swing dance in really fast, since Lee Press-On and the Nails are playing.  Whoop!  I will be there giving quickie lessons at 7, the band goes on at 8.  At their usual location, the Masonic Lodge, 100 N Ellsworth Ave, San Mateo.  $20

Tuesday, March 9 =  Tonight we will give some moves in skaters' position, that staple of your waltz dancing diet.  Everybody feels fancy and elegant in skaters'.

Friday, March 12 =  Steampunk Ball, as part of a weekend convention in Emeryville.  The web site doesn't say it's "the Girl Genius ball," but Phil and Kaja Foglio are the guests of honor, so whatever you wore for last year's Girl Genius Peers ball, pull it back out for this one.  James and Cathleen give lessons at 7, and Bangers & Mash play at 8:30.  $15

Saturday, March 13 =  East Bay Waltz celebrates St. Patrick's Day by having MacKenzie teach Irish ceili dancing 7-9, then Bob will be DJing 9-12.  Is he going to play lots of celtic music?  Like there's that waltz, "Kiss me, I'm s^^^faced," that would be hilarious!  Ahem, anyway, EBW is held at the Lake Merritt Dance Center, 200 Grand Ave, Oakland.   $12/$8

Tuesday, March 16 =  Redowa.  Boing!  I said, BOING!  If you have had classes elsewhere and did not get it down, do not give up; take it with us a couple of times and it will make sense.
